Day 4 and 5 - Exploring the North

My neighbour Wayne and I talked briefly after dinner last night and decided to go on a road trip with the kids.  Neither of us had been to the North East portion of Qatar and we thought that it would be time well spent.  So we loaded up at 7:30am and hit the road for a day filled with free adventure.  We explored the old Al Zubara Fort, a UNESCO world heritage site, an abandoned town (still trying to figure out its name), we beach combed for a bit, we dropped in on an an active archeological dig and then headed further north to Al Shamal to get some food and and then back home.  Not a bad day at all!

Al Zubara Fort.

Wayne...the Crocodile Hunter!

Yes...she is eating her own poop!

The abandoned town that I mentioned.

Brain coral.

Beach Combing...one thing that Qatar has is a lot of trash!!!

This is an active archeological site that we invited ourselves into.  Luckily the fella in charge
was welcoming and gave us a tour.  They just found am ibex carved out of bone.  Tres Cool!

A sheep herder in the middle of nowhere!
